Interview Guide

After meeting with our client, we developed an interview guide and began reaching out to internal team members, whose contact information was provided by our client. The goal was to gather feedback on making the tool more user-friendly and effective by discussing their experiences and suggestions on the FFMI-BD Collaborator Hub.

We conducted a competitive analysis by selecting various competitors and comparators for the Collaborator Hub. Each team member chose a platform to research, focusing on features, user interface design, and functionality, to identify best practices and potential areas for improvement.

We performed a heuristic evaluation using Jakob Nielsen's 10 Usability Heuristics to assess the current Collaborator Hub. By analyzing the tool against these principles, we identified usability issues and provided recommendations for potential improvements to improve the user experience.

  • Made box sizes more consistent and intuitive
  • Made color scheme simpler + more accessible
  • Textual hierarchy for readability
  • More white space to minimize info
  • Pages sorted by how many faculty profiles so users aren’t as overwhelmed
  • Added search bar for convenience/user control

Exporting Process

  • Keep instructions permanently on screen so users don’t have to go back and forth
  • Current header is too cluttered → added more spacing between elements, changed colors and sizes of titles
  • Pop-up covered the screen/important information

  • Simplified and modernized design
  • Fixed spelling errors (Ex. Collaboration)
  • Added more whitespace for readability
  • Made buttons more distinct and clickable
  • Moved filters inside the box for a cleaner layout
